Oooooo... 51 comments! Now I feel like saying “FIRST POST FIRST POST!”
I’ll make it a point to watch The Name of the Rose when it next comes on TV. Sean Connery and Christian Slater, if memory serves me right. Interestingly enough, I read the book again just last month!
Either way is fine, really. I did the book and then the movie. Maybe you could try the other way round - might enjoy it a bit more. Only thing is, you might want to watch the movie again after reading the book!
I kind of have an idea why, or at least a gut feel :-), but i will catch the movie if i can find the movie someplace. The book of course should be easier to find!
Thanks! If I am not mistaken, I think I've watched it, but I'd love to watch it again. I see you've not read the fine print in our lone entry! :) V and I do write on our website http://personal.pavanashree.org instead of on LJ. You only have to add our syndicated account to your friends page to get updates.
btw, do you know you have an extremely strange icon? It looks like Darth Vader wielding an ice-pick like a gunsight. No doubt, in some Humpty-Dumptian universe, all of this makes sense.
What on earth about the Name of the Rose do you think will apply to an IIM grad? The paranoia? The murderous intent towards one's colleagues? The hoarding of unique knowledge to one's own self?
Funny, I could have sworn I had recommended something for you. Anyway, do try out Peckinpah's Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, if you haven't watched it already.
The name of the movie which I will see this weekend is _________ ?

ReplyDeleteFunny how most of my Malayalam movie recos have been Padmarajan films. Hmm.
Thanks :)*makes a note to get that for the weekend*
ReplyDeleteYup, Connery and Slater. Not a great movie mind you, but it does have its moments. A bit tongue-in-cheek at times, like the book.

ReplyDeleteBut this intrigues me. Why this one? :-)
And, the movie first or the book?
Either way is fine, really. I did the book and then the movie. Maybe you could try the other way round - might enjoy it a bit more. Only thing is, you might want to watch the movie again after reading the book!

>Maybe I’m growing old.
ReplyDeleteLife sucks and then you die in the rain. Or so Hemingway said. Of course, he spent his life on tropical beaches, the weasel.
What on earth about the Name of the Rose do you think will apply to an IIM grad? The paranoia? The murderous intent towards one's colleagues? The hoarding of unique knowledge to one's own self?
ReplyDeleteOh. Wait...You're right. I hate you.
Battle Royale for you, buddy boy.
ReplyDeleteThe icon is actually a crop from a Philips ad featuring Vader.
Hey, I don't remember seeing this thread...
ReplyDeleteMere liye???
