I broke my specs while cleaning them yesterday. Have been walking around with a lost look on my face since then (yes, I know I always had that look, ha-ha, thank you very much). My left eye is less myopic than my right, so I can pretty much see all right. However, its been a strain. Plan to go to the opticians today and get a new pair. Should I try contacts ? I dont think I'll like them even if I did. Am prejudiced. Maybe I'll see if there is a free trial offer or something.
Thanks for wishing my journal on its first anniversary.
And in case anyone was wondering about my IE problem, it got resolved by installing Windows 2000 over my existing Win NT. *sigh*.

The IEHelper saga continues...
Thanks for the help, , and ! However...
This is what google gave me. All it did was confuse me more.
The local sysadmin wants to reinstall IE 6.0 to solve the problem. Age old remedy. Hope it works, but I have my doubts. Whats more, I dont get to know what the darn thing was all about !
- I tried looking at the registry, the only thing which had an 'IEHelper' entry was Acrobat. I happily uninstalled the poor soul but that didnt remove the problem.
- I use WinNT, so msconfig wasnt an option. I checked the startup stuff, didnt find anything remotely suspicious
- Tried checking the Task Manager to figure out what gets kicked off when I launch IE, but didnt find anything useful.

Halp !
I think I've accidentally installed some spyware software on my machine (no, I did not go to any porn site). I keep getting this dialog box each time I open Internet Explorer - the title is IEHelper and the content is 'Failure sinking events from IWebBrowser2'. Google searches didnt really help me apart from pages displaying dire warnings about spyware installations.
Does anyone know what I need to do ? Help much appreciated.

Monday Morning
First the bad news:
My home PC refused to start on Saturday. No amount of coaxing could make it budge. I've put in an SOS to Vinod Chandran, my dealer. The strange thing is that Mr Chandran now sells Pru-ICICI insurance policies. So though sympathetic, he was more interested in selling me life insurance. I'll wait for a day or two before calling someone else.
and , you can take it easy for some time. I wont be regaling you with my movie reviews till my PC gets cured. And , you wont get to watch LOTR till this gets fixed too.
I've learned to live with my back pain now. It greets me every morning as I rise, brings me coffee, sings with me in the bathroom, etc.
The good news was that Sindha was home. The weekend got over in two hours.
