There is seasonality in almost every product category, but some categories are more sensitive than others. Vicks is a good example - every time it rains, there is a surge in sales of Action 500 and Vaporub. Winter (the NDJ quarter) is huge because these products move really fast - the theory being that people get the sniffles a lot in that season and use a lot more coldrub and pop many more pills. Tracking user habits and offtake trends throws up some tremendously interesting information - most of which is classified so I won't be spilling it here :)
And here in Trichy! Good for business, I call it.
ReplyDeleteer...the product you were marketing for P&G..do the sales vary depending on the monsoon ? interesting.... ;-)

ReplyDeleteIts tough for us in Bangalore these days. Need to put on a jacket, brave the cool breeze, feel tiny droplets of rain...
ReplyDeleteIt must be lovely in Chennai with the sun shining ever so bright
;-)
It rained a couple of days back... but all it does is increase the humidity, so I suppose we're better off without it.
