Pointless points

  • Completed five years with i2 yesterday

  • Rachana likes Clapton, Knopfler, AR Rehman and Yesudas. She certainly has good taste. Of course, the only other singer she's heard is me.

  • My tickets to Dallas haven't yet been fully confirmed. The one route which has a confirmed booking is through Chennai, not Mumbai. Eeks !

  • Finalized on a house to rent, over the weekend. Its no great shakes, but its the only one we liked from the dozens we saw in Whitefield. This house is still 8km away from Sindha's college, though the traffic is low on this route. On the positive side, its very close to the house we are planning to buy in Brookefields. Will shift by Sep 2 or so, once I get back from Dallas

  • Prashant is in town, looking for a job change

  • My stomach is back in action. I'm hungry, as always

  3. Congatulations on your 5 years. (Perhaps I should congratulate i2; a software company that can keep an employee for so long deserves it!)

By the way, where is Brookefields? Surely, I haven't been out of Bangalore for so long!

  4. When I first joined my company out of campus, it was with the avowed intention of switching within a year. It's been well over 2 years now, and I still intend to quit within a year. :)

  5. Congrats, you are now eligible to get Gratuity!!! I wonder when I will find myself eligible for Gratuity. Nous is my 5th employer in 7.5 years!!!

We will miss you as neighbors. Taruna was in Delhi for the weekend, she is back in Bangalore now. We will meet once I get back. If and when you are in Dallas, gimme a ring. Will mail you my numbers. Did you mention that it is a short trip.

  6. You can ask her to listen to me sing, and you will soon become her to-die-for-favourite-singer. (I like to think that if I were any good at singing, I would have been a professional singer, and since I am not, it is obviously my job to sing the worst around.. makes sense to me!)

Here is a tip. Eat brocolli everytime you feelhungry. Soon your body will become so fed up of eating broccoli that hunger pangs will disappear altogether.

  9. Thanks a lot for the flat offer. However I'll probably spend some company money in case I need to stay over for a day in Mumbai. i2 has an office in SEEPZ and I have a small team there whom I'd like to visit, tickets willing. Will let you know

Whats the confusion regarding Tintin ?

  10. Thanks.

Brookefields is on the way to ITPL as you come via Airport Road. Its named after the Brooke Bond office located there, I think. This used to be way outside town a few years back, now its just another long drive from work.

  11. Ha ha.

Wait a minute. Is this why Sindha keeps feeding me paavakka every other meal ?

  13. i have been unemployed for the past six years (discount all my trainee years and my job as an assistant). since i have not yet qualified i do not feel employed as the pay sucks and you are treated as a flunky with distinction to do a job of a qualified chartered accountant!
so a job sounds great to me and five years!!!

  15. Hmm. Thanks for the information.
Though my home is in Bangalore, I so often have trouble recognising all the new -nagars (or -fields) that seem to crop up!

  16. Good thing you didn't use to live in Bombay. Nearly everything's being renamed after Chattrapati Shivaji now.

  17. Whats with women and this vegetable ? All the women I know seem to love it !

  20. Thanks. Always meant to ask - where do you work ?

  21. I didn't use to, but I do now. Last year I visited the Chattrapati Shivaji Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly known as the Prince of Wales museum.

  22. My wife thrives on it too. I'm sure it's a conspiracy. Or else someone figured out that paavakka is a sure-fire cure for indigestion/morning sickness/hot flashes/migraine/carnivorous husbands... and the wisdom got passed down from mother to daughter.

  23. Same here. But I love it too.
