Here we go again

Yet another painstaking journey. Yet another stop-over at the Chennai airport. This time round, they have free wi-fi though.

The Frankfurt airport looms ahead, grim and foreboding. Thankfully, I'll have just a couple of hours before my connecting flight to Houston.

Ammo packed: Jonathan Stroud's Ptolemy's Gate and Terry Pratchett's Going Postal. Should keep me alive till I reach Houston, hopefully.

  1. Is your US # the same as last time? We could phone chat then!

I've got a US number and a Canadian number at my disposal if you wanna call me, btw. Bon Voyage!

  2. Ptolemy's Gate sounds perfect to read while gliding through the skies. What's it about?
Hope your journey was better than expected.

  4. It's the 3rd part of the Bartimaeus trilogy. Not bad.

The journey was as expected, sorry to report. But thanks!

  5. I have 469/879-4477 against "Madhav America" in my phone book.

I'm reachable on my cell at either of these two numbers btw:

    415/513-5370 (San Francisco, California, USA)
    514/668-2483 (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

If it's cheaper for you to call the US number, feel free to use that one.

  9. Going Postal is brilliant - and rather harder edged than Pterry usually does. I do love his newer books without a lead role by most of the familiar characters - monstrous regiment for example. Oh - and try the Tiffany Aching series.. a little girl who becomes an apprentice witch under Granny Weatherwax, gets to deal with horrible supernatural entities such as a mind creature.. [Wee Free Men and A Hat Full of Sky]

And about FRA - its a pretty decent airport, far nicer than madras, and the one or two hours you typically have to spend there are quite bearable if you spend time in a lounge, or even outside. Clean toilets, working aircon, good coffee, fast (if expensive) wireless but that too is bearable when you've got time to check email for maybe half an hour or so.

If you hate FRA, you want to try LHR or CDG. You'll run screaming from them, trust me.

  11. I'd have to agree. "Going Postal" is more than going to keep you awake. It is going to keep you awake guffawing.

  12. Funny, I thought Going Postal was just ok, compared to some of the other recent Pratchetts. I loved Night Watch, for example.
