Friday evening

They close up part of Main Street on Friday evening and put up stalls selling beer and hot dogs. A jazz band plays nearby, in front of the Hyatt hotel. I didn't quite see what the fuss was all about, really. Moreover, the beer was Budweiser Light, one of the most pathetic beers in the world. I just moved on after taking a few snaps. Posted by Picasa

Another Church

Another church, thought the design different enough to blog about. Posted by Picasa

Mosque-ish Church

Thought this was a mosque, at first glance. Interesting design. There are lots of churches here, just 100 metres apart. They don't call this the Bible Belt for nothing. Posted by Picasa

Thursday party

Downtown Greenville puts up a small show every Thursday. There are a few booths selling beer and a band playing. People generally hang out and have fun. I think. Posted by Picasa

D'uh!

Outside the Commerce One office at Greenville, South Carolina. Don't really know why I had that stupid expression on my face. But what's new? Posted by Picasa

Right Now I am

- 34,000 feet above sea level
- Flying to Chicago on another one of those unavoidable US trips
- Pleasantly high after a couple of glasses of scotch and a passable airline lunch
- Listening to 's Feelgood Rahman Mix, delighted with the selections
- Hoping I'll not miss my connecting flight to Greenville, SC; wondering what to do in Chicago if I do

Where Eagles Dare

Watched Where Eagles Dare again today, after almost twenty five years. All I remember of the first time I saw it was ole Clint running from pillar to post, fixing bombs and killing people. Fair enough, the lasting image I have of the movie after watching it today is pretty much the same. Clint kills more people in this movie than in all his spaghetti westerns put together, or so I'm told.

The plot is hilarious. Our heroes parachute into a Nazi fortress ostensibly to rescue a British General. The real reason however, is to get names of all the secret agents in Britain. From whom? From three German double agents who were in England to begin with. Did the good guys know about them? Of course they did. Then why go all the way to Germany to get these names from them? Ah. Ask Alistair McLean

Cracking good fare though.
