In my World Civilization course, while covering medieval europe, my professor paused to note that it was a time of horrific cruelty in daily life, fueled largely by ignorance. People were provincial, barely educated, hardly traveled. They lived lives without control, and manifested their fear of the world with violent acts towards each other and towards knowledge.
Intolerance. Our way of life. And these criminals will go away with nothing more severe than a rap on their knuckles.
ReplyDeletepeople who burnt people got away with not even a rebuke (rather got hailed too), what do a few books/works matter here !!
